For many, becoming a Canadian citizen is a dream come true. However, the path to citizenship can be challenging, and many have trouble meeting the eligibility requirements for obtaining Canadian citizenship. Many current Permanent Residents (PR) may benefit from the privilege of citizenship, but don’t know how to apply.
Who Can Apply ??
To be eligible for Canadian citizenship, you must:
- Be a permanent resident
- Have lived in Canada for 3 out of the last 5 years
- Have filed your taxes (if applicable)
- Pass a citizenship test
- Prove that you can speak either English or French
Who is a Citizen Already
It may be the case that you or your child is already a citizen of Canada by way of birth or the location of the birth of one of their biological parents. For example, any child born of a parent who is a Canadian citizen is a citizen at birth regardless of where they are born in the world.
